Gaskell has covered war, politics, veterans and breaking news for two decades
November 13, 2018— Stephanie Gaskell, former managing editor of Defense One and Pentagon reporter for Politico, is joining ScoutComms, the nation’s leading communications and marketing firm dedicated to providing services that support veterans and military families, as a senior manager.
She will serve as the company’s primary media relations advisor and will manage multiple client accounts.
Prior to joining ScoutComms, Gaskell covered war, politics, veterans and breaking news for nearly 20 years, including at the Associated Press, the New York Post and the New York Daily News. She has reported from Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo and the World Trade Center site after 9/11. She also launched and edited two blogs, War Zone and The War Report.
“Stephanie brings a rare skill set and accumulated experiences to ScoutComms,” said Fred Wellman, CEO and founder. “One of the biggest challenges in our industry is knowing how to work with the media to tell stories about the organizations supporting veterans and military families, and Stephanie’s experience, relationships, and passion for helping veterans makes her the perfect addition to our company. This will be a huge boon for our clients and for our team, who can learn from Stephanie’s extensive knowledge of the media industry.”
A passionate supporter of and advocate for America’s veterans, Gaskell comes from a military family. She is joining ScoutComms after stints as editor of social media and digital development for Military Times, and as a public relations specialist at Veterans of Foreign Wars.
“I have been watching ScoutComms grow and prosper for years,” Gaskell said. “Fred and his team have built a company that balances true professional talent with a passion for helping veterans and military families. That’s a mission I’m honored to support.”
