Longtime Joining Forces leader will continue to support veteran and military family causes with Fredericksburg, VA-based agency
Fredericksburg, Va., January 31, 2017 — Rory Brosius, longtime Deputy Director of the White House’s Joining Forces Initiative and policy advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, will join ScoutComms, the nation’s leading communications, advocacy, philanthropic strategy and market research firm focused on efforts to support veterans and military families. Beginning March 1, she will serve as a Vice President managing a portfolio of veteran and military family-serving clients.
Brosius spent the last four years overseeing day-to-day operations of Joining Forces, providing continuity across six executive directors, and directly staffing First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden at events around the world. In her position, Brosius developed policy and communications strategies for the initiative while cultivating relationships with non-profit organizations, corporations, and advocates that enabled Joining Forces to advance its goals to support service members, veterans, and their families.
“I am thrilled that Rory has chosen ScoutComms as her next step after the White House,” said ScoutComms founder and CEO Fred Wellman. “I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Rory and witness firsthand her passion and incredible breadth of knowledge on the veteran and military communities. As part of our team, I’m confident she’ll be able to continue to build on the relationships and initiatives she championed on behalf of our wide range of clients and partners.”
Launched by Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden in 2011, Joining Forces was a highly regarded nationwide initiative during the Obama Administration calling on all Americans to rally around service members, veterans, and their families and support them through wellness, education, and employment opportunities.
Brosius, who holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California, also guided the development and implementation of the Wellness pillar of Joining Forces, including mental health and caregiving. Brosius brings her firsthand experience as a military spouse to her work in the military and veteran communities.
“I am humbled and excited to join the team at ScoutComms this spring,” said Brosius. “Their passion for supporting veterans, service members and families is evident in their work, and I’m delighted to become a part of this amazing group of committed professionals and advocates. I am looking forward to supporting clients who make incredible differences in the lives of our veteran and military communities every day.
Brosius joins ScoutComms in the wake of its most successful year ever. Among the year’s highlights, the company surpassed $1 million in revenue for the first time and doubled its employee base. Last month, ScoutComms announced the launch of its new market research team, Scout Insight, along with senior-level promotions to position the firm for continued growth and momentum in 2017.
