Fredericksburg, Va., September 12, 2017 — Today, ScoutComms was recognized as being among the “Best for the World” companies which create the most positive overall impact on their customers based on an independent, comprehensive assessment administered by the nonprofit B Lab. Honorees are featured on B the Change, the digital Medium publication produced by B Lab, at

ScoutComms, the nation’s leading communications and consulting firm dedicated to providing services that empower veterans and military families, is honored in the Best for Customers category, which includes businesses that earned a Customer score in the top 10 percent of all global Certified B Corporations (B Corps) on the B Impact Assessment. This is the second year ScoutComms was eligible for recognition, after becoming a certified B Corporation in June 2015 and the second time recognized as a Best for the World firm.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as one of the ‘Best for the World’ B Corps again. This recognition comes on the heals of our recent recertification where we set a goal to raise our score and we did, thanks to the work we do for our incredible clients,” said Fred Wellman, founder and CEO of ScoutComms. “The spectacular growth we have seen in the last two years truly demonstrates that you can do good while doing well. We constantly strive to find new ways to make a difference for our community through creative campaigns for our clients and diligent accountability to metrics. Our goal never wavers: improve outcomes for those who support veterans and military families.”

The Customer portion of the B Impact Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers by focusing on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit and if those products or services are targeted toward serving underserved populations. Honorees scoring in the top 10 percent set a gold standard for the high impact that business as a force for good can make on consumers around the world. ScoutComms made the list thanks to exceptional practices exclusively supporting companies that are associated with supporting veterans and military families.

“Companies like ScoutComms are proving that business can be a force for good for all stakeholders,” says Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. “We’re proud to share their achievement in a meaningful way. Best for the World is the only list of businesses making the greatest positive impact that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance.”

A total of 846 Certified B Corporations were named 2017 Best for the World Honorees, including: Patagonia; Seventh Generation; National Co+op Grocers; and Business Development Bank of Canada. Forty-eight countries are represented, including Afghanistan, Kenya, Nicaragua and Turkey. The selection criteria for Best for the World honorees are available at here.

Today there are more than 2,100 Certified B Corporations across more than 130 industries and 50 countries, unified by one common goal: to redefine success in business. Any company can measure and manage social and environmental performance by taking the B Impact Assessment.
