Message from Fred Wellman, President

Amid the ever-changing, and sometimes overwhelming, news about COVID-19, safety for your and our employees is our top priority at ScoutComms. We are already a remote workplace so we've been practicing 'social distancing' for a while. This also means you won't see any changes in our ability to service your needs and support your mission in this difficult time where telling your story is more important than ever. We continue to welcome new clients in need of support for this crisis and your overall public relations and research needs.

ScoutComms is Official Public Relations Partner of the 2018 Military Times Service Members of the Year Awards

Fredericksburg, VA, July 9 – ScoutComms, the nation’s leading communications, advocacy, philanthropic strategy and market research firm dedicated to providing services that support veterans and military families, is proud to be the Official Public Relations Partner of the 2018 Military Times Service Members of the Year Awards.

Since 2001, the Military Times Service Members of the Year (SMOY) Awards have honored one outstanding member from each branch of service. They are selected based on exemplary military service that goes beyond the call of duty, to include their community involvement and volunteer work. This year, the SMOY Awards are also honoring an Entrepreneur of the Year and a Veteran of the Year.

ScoutComms is working with the SMOY organizers to spread awareness of the awards to the cities across the country where the award recipients live or are currently stationed, helping raise the visibility of the awards and their recipients outside of Washington, D.C.

Information about the seven 2018 SMOY Awards winners can be found online at

All winners will be recognized on July 11 in Washington, D.C. during an awards reception at the Reserve Officers Association.

“As attendees at the SMOY Awards every year, and as ardent supporters of the military community, ScoutComms is honored to be partnering with the Service Members of the Year Awards organizers this year to help raise the profile of the program and create local attention for each of the deserving winners,” said Fred Wellman, an Army veteran and CEO of ScoutComms.

Last month, ScoutComms was recognized by the nonprofit B Lab as a “Best for the World” company across three categories — Overall, Best for Workers, and Best for Community — as a result of its proven ability as a for-profit business to create an extraordinarily positive impact in the world. ScoutComms is proud to be the only American marketing and communications firm to be named as an Overall honoree. This is the third year in a row that ScoutComms has been recognized as a Best for the World company since becoming a certified B Corporation in 2015, and the first year it has been honored in the most selective Overall category.
